No-kill "Passion" Fishing Trail from Arc to Val Cenis (Sollières-Sardières)

Description

Located at an altitude of 1250m in Haute Maurienne, downstream from its confluence with the Doron de Termignon, this 2.5km "catch and release" course is a treasure to discover in a stunning natural setting, on the borders of the Vanoise Park. Specific regulations: Natural bait is prohibited; only artificial lures and flies, and synthetic imitation baits are permitted. Two hooks or three artificial flies are permitted, barbless. Any fish caught must be returned to the water alive immediately.

Managed by the Savoie Federation for Fishing and the Protection of Aquatic Environments and the Val Cenis Private Fishing Company, this fishing route is very accessible and suitable for novice anglers looking to learn. However, be careful: in spring, and even early summer, the flow is dependent on snowmelt. The best time to fish is from late August until closing time. This period is much more suitable for beginners.

The regulations for this fishing route prohibit natural bait, but for those who are keen on "flicking," replace your bait with a nymph or an artificial moth, a very effective technique all season long.
When fishing with flies, it's best to use dark shades. So alternate between black chironomids, baetis spents and dark emerging sedges in calm areas. In currents, favor a very full duck tail, floating high on the water. In the absence of gobbling, a large caddisfly nymph will give good results.
